Eagle
River borders the majestic Chugach State Park, 495 thousand
acres of rugged mountains. Brown and black bear, moose, wolves,
wolverine, lynx, fox, porcupine, beaver, spawning salmon, and
a wide variety of birds including the Bald Eagle roam this spectacular
park.
Gifts and local
artist shops, as well as grocery stores are all within walking
distance from our Motel.
Anchorage is only
13 miles to the south on the Glenn Highway.
Our long summer
days bring festivals, parades, and the Wednesday Market. The
lakes in the area are filled with hungry trout. The rivers
are filled with Alaska's hearty salmon.The trails surrounding
Eagle River allow you to enjoy a quiet evening bike ride/walk
through the towns rural back country. These trails double
as cross country ski trails during the winter months
If your visit
brings you here during the winter months, you can count on
getting out and enjoying life. Everything from sled dog rides,
ice fishing , to snowmobiling can be found in this energetic
community.
If Alaskan sports
are your interest, sled dog training trails are just minutes
away . View weekend races at Beach Lake. Eagle River holds bragging
rights to check point number one of the 1,049 mile Iditarod
Sled Dog Trail. The first Saturday of March, spectators from
all over the world descend on this little town to cheer for
their favorite mushers. 15 minutes away from downtown Eagle
River is Alpenglow at Arctic Valley, a challenging downhill
skiing/snow boarding facility.
If
you like adventure, rafting, ATV's, flight seeing and snowmachine
trips can be arranged.
